Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote seems to have started 2021 on the wrong foot after he reportedly lost $900 million of his vast fortune in a day, according to Bloomberg.
The African billionaire’s comglomerate, which is known as Dangote Group, was the biggest loser in trading on the Nigerian stock Exchange. The loss has now dropped Dangote’s fortune from $18.4 billion to $17.5 billion, as published by Bloomberg. Although Google places his net worth at $13.5 billion.
However, Dangote is still ranked among the world’s billionaires after he made $600 million in the first week of 2021 to compensate for the $900 million loss.
