President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Monday, [August 3, 2020] unveiled the primary VW vehicles assembled within the newly established VW factory in Ghana.
The models being assembled are Tiguan, Teramont, Amarok, Caddy, Polo and Passât.
President Akufo-Addo during the revealing ceremony at the Kempinski Hotel said “it may be a adieu for Mother Ghana.”
The VW factory will create tons of highly skilled jobs, reduce the high amounts of exchange utilized in the importation of second-hand vehicles, and, thereby, help strengthen the Ghanaian currency, whilst, at an equivalent time, earn the state exchange through the exportation of made-in-Ghana vehicles, President Akufo-Addo said.
With the Chinese company, Sinotruk, already engaged within the assembly of trucks in Ghana, i’m hopeful that other global automobile companies, which have indicated their preparedness to set-up shop in Ghana, will soon follow the remarkable, pioneering example of Volkswagen.
